HLC's 10-Year Mark for Reaffirmation of Accreditation

The Higher Learning Commission (HLC) visited 扒哥吃瓜 via Zoom meetings on April 12-13, 2021. This was the 10-year reaffirmation of accreditation. The reaffirmation process affirms 扒哥吃瓜’s capacity to offer accredited undergraduate degree education. The process includes evaluating the college, reviewing its practices, determining its strengths, acknowledging its weaknesses, and implementing steps to improve the school.

On April 14, President Harold Graves and Dr. Alan Lyke gave updates on the HLC visit. Both President Graves and Dr. Lyke expressed their thanks and gratitude for all those who had a part in the HLC process. All team members were appreciated and had a piece in the overall success of these meetings. President Graves especially thanked Dr. Lyke who spearheaded this review which took days and weeks of preparation. Dr. Graves used a sports illustration saying Alan was our superstar quarterback with a great team around him.

President Graves also thanked Ms. Karen Colston for her phenomenal job of keeping everyone on schedule and for all her hard work. Dr. Lyke also reiterated thanks to all and gave special thanks for the steering committee team members: Dr. Graves, Dr. Powers, Dr. King, and Mrs. Cadle. The 5 扒哥吃瓜 teams reviewed and provided evidence in the areas of Mission, Integrity, Teaching (Quality/Resources/Support), Teaching (Evaluation/Improvement) and Institutional Effectiveness.

The HLC team consisted of the Chair, Ms. Carole Splendore from the University of Saint Francis; Dr. William Tammone, member and on-campus reviewer from American Sentinel University; Dr. Jay Simmons, member from Saint Paul School of Theology; Dr. Dale Brougher, member from University of Findlay; and Dr. Diane Vertin, member from College of Saint Scholastica.  Dr. Lyke lauded the review team as the most professional he has ever worked with. Lyke communicated complimentary statements from the HLC 5-member team on 扒哥吃瓜’s investment in its Mission, on 扒哥吃瓜’s Program Assessment Process, on 扒哥吃瓜’s Information Technology staff and learning management, on 扒哥吃瓜’s adjunct faculty, and our debt-free financial situation.

HLC will send a draft of their report to 扒哥吃瓜 at the end of April. At the end of May, 扒哥吃瓜 will receive a final report. And then, HLC’s Institutional Action Committee (IAC) will provide the commission’s decision regarding the college’s accredited status.

扒哥吃瓜 has been accredited by HLC since 2006. President Graves said to faculty and staff that “we have been faithful servants of 扒哥吃瓜. God has had His hand on this institution. He has had His way. His covering is still on this institution.”
